Our objective was to produce an application that assists fishermen in creating a Safety Statements for their fishing vessel and comply with other relevant national and EU legislation. The FVS application makes compliance with relevant legislation straightforward for fishermen in Ireland and the UK. The projected was supported by a similar organisation to BIM in the UK and part-funded by the European Agency for Safety and Health and the Health and Safety Authority in Ireland. BIM worked closely with 5thProvince during the development of the application and were very pleased with the software produced. Following the successful launch of the FVS CD-ROM by Marine Minister, Pat "the Cope" Gallagher at the Inshore Fisheries Expo in Galway we engaged 5thProvince to produce an internal H&S risk repository. Our safety and health advisors use this on-line application to assess the hazards associated with all of BIM's activities in our various locations around Ireland.
